The Mersey Boroughs ITT Partnership is delighted to be one of the country’s successful Teacher Training providers who have received reaccreditation from the Department for Education to continue training teachers from September 2024.

In its recent reform of teacher-training, the government has only approved one in three applications from ITT institutions, so we are very proud that our Primary Teacher Training provision has been recognised as meeting the DfEs criteria.

All providers wishing to continue training teachers from 2024 were obliged to apply for re-accreditation to provide new quality requirements which will become part of the new ITT criteria from September 2024.

Mersey Boroughs Teacher Training Partnership Celebrates another successful year of home grown teaching talent.

Newly qualified primary school teachers trained in Knowsley recently celebrated their new status following a challenging year for teacher training nationally.

Eighteen trainees gained their Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in July after successfully completing their training with Mersey Boroughs Initial Teacher Training Programme and are now excited to get down to work in their own classrooms.

Mersey Boroughs is proud that during the difficult covid circumstances they successfully continued to deliver quality tuition and classroom experience for their trainee teachers. Thanks goes also to our fantastically supportive partner schools who provided the trainees with safe environments to continue gaining valuable teaching time in school.

Our programme is very well regarded by trainees, newly qualified teachers and employing schools with employment and retention rates above those of other teacher training providers. Schools employing our NQTs will be gaining a member of staff who experienced a variety of school settings, were fully immersed in school life and have a fully documented set of evidence relating to the teachers standards.

Everyone at Mersey Boroughs wish them every success in their careers.

Mersey Boroughs Teacher Training Partnership Celebrates another successful year

Newly qualified teachers trained in Knowsley recently celebrated their new status at their graduation in the beautiful grounds of Knowsley Hall.

Thirty two trainees gained their Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in July after successfully completing their training with Mersey Boroughs Initial Teacher Training Programme.

Our programme is very well regarded by trainees, newly qualified teachers and employing schools with employment and retention rates above those of other teacher training providers. Trainees say that they like the fact that the course is predominately school based with local schools fully involved in the design and delivery of the course.

Philip Eastwood, Director of teacher training said, “The Celebration event rounded off a fantastic year for Mersey Boroughs. We achieved a glowing report from Ofsted in January 2017 which highlighted the many strengths of our school based teacher training course. We now have 32 newly qualified teachers who have secured employment in schools across Merseyside and beyond. They can’t wait to start teaching and take responsibility for their own classes

We are now looking forward to training this years cohort of graduates as they prepare for a life in the classroom”

New Website Launch

We’ve made some changes … this is education after all…

Mersey Boroughs ITT Partnership is excited to introduce our new website.

Promoting Growth

School led PGCE and QTS courses are still relatively new in the teacher training marketplace. As one of the very first providers of school based courses in the country, we pride ourselves in being at the forefront of educational change. By keeping up to date with current developments in policy and practice, we ensure that our trainees are fully supported to become today’s teachers equipped for tomorrow’s classrooms.

Staying Connected

Our upgraded website now provides a clear message about who we are; what we stand for and clearly outlines exactly what we provide in the world of teacher training and continuing professional development. By synchronising our web presence with a wide range of social media platforms, we are able to keep users informed and updated on events and activities. Additional information about the services and support that we offer will give potential trainee teachers enough insight to make Mersey Boroughs their first choice for initial teacher training

Building on Success

Our new site gives us a fantastic platform for regular communication with our stakeholders, past, present and future and will support us in our continued growth and building reputation as a first-rate option for anyone seeking to embark upon a school based initial teacher training programme.

New Books for New Year.

Pupils in all our partnership schools have started the new school year with a special gift from Mersey Boroughs. Each school has received a boost of new books for their reading area. The books were purchased by Mersey Boroughs as part of our commitment to working as a true partnership with our network of schools. Marianne Mowatt, head teacher of Hale C of E Primary, said: “It’s a real treat that we have had all these new books for school. The children will really enjoy reading and using the books in their lessons and our trainees will be able to use the books when planning and delivering their lessons.”

Mersey Boroughs staff delivered books to all their partner schools as part of its commitment to enhancing the training and learning opportunities for trainees and pupils in their classes.
